Overview

The U.S. Bank Altitude Reserve Visa Infinite is a premium travel card that rewards mobile wallet usage in a way no other card does. You earn 3X points on every purchase made through Apple Pay, Google Pay, or Samsung Pay, which effectively turns any purchase at a tap-to-pay terminal into a bonus category. Dining also earns 3X, and prepaid hotel and car rentals booked through the Altitude Rewards Center earn 5X.

The $325 annual travel and dining credit offsets most of the $400 annual fee, bringing the effective cost down to $75. Cardholders also receive Priority Pass Select lounge access, Global Entry or TSA PreCheck credit, Visa Infinite concierge, and primary rental car insurance. Points are worth 1.5 cents each when redeemed for travel through the Real-Time Rewards program.

This card is an underrated competitor to the Chase Sapphire Reserve and Amex Platinum. The mobile wallet earning structure means you can earn 3X at grocery stores, gas stations, retail shops, and anywhere else that accepts contactless payments, giving it one of the broadest bonus earning footprints of any premium card. The 50,000-point welcome bonus is worth $750 when redeemed for travel.
